Teenage Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier dies after fatal crash at Mugello

Swiss Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier has tragically died aged 19 after fatal crash happened at the end of qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello on Saturday.

The Swiss rider scored points in all of the first five races, taking a best result of seventh at the Spanish GP at Jerez.

Ahead of this weekend’s Italian GP, he is 10th in the championship having amassed a reasonable haul of 27 points.

Doctors rushed to the scene and after attending to him for 40 minutes on the circuit had him airlifted to hospital.

He underwent chest surgery overnight “for a vascular lesion” and had suffered “severe brain damage”, a hospital spokesman told AFP earlier Sunday.
